For most of its run, the Toonami India block aired three times a day with an early block, an afternoon block, and a late night block.

Toonami was also formerly a programming block that aired on Cartoon Network in India from 2001 to 2008. However, on August 22, 2016, the channel began broadcasting in Hindi each day from 6-8 PM. The channel was broadcast in English from its launch until the channel was shut down on May 15, 2018. However, in 2017, the channel was re-purposed as a classic animation channel, mostly airing shows from Cartoon Network's and Hanna-Barbera's library, while still airing a handful of action-anime series such as Dragon Ball Super.

The channel was initially dedicated to bringing high-octane animated action to kids, superhero fans and their families across the country. Toonami, also known as Toonami India, was a 24-hour channel in India that launched on February 26, 2015.
